Abandoned sock at Holkham, Norfolk. Unless it’s some weird offshoot of geocaching. Santa may well need some help finding it in that landscape, abundant in samphire between the trees planted to protect fields inland from blown sand and the dunes away to the right. Behind the dunes, an expansive beach fairly lightly used even at this time of year, until you get to the beach huts at Wells-next-the-Sea.

At which point it starts getting mighty crowded. And if you’re misled by a certain holiday brochure into expecting to see the sun set into the bay, I’m afraid you’re on the wrong side of the country. 😉
